Already Hostages

Arab uprisings: Obama's response was dithering and pathetic. - By Christopher Hitchens - Slate Magazine: "Evidently a little sensitive to the related charges of being a) taken yet again completely by surprise, b) apparently without a policy of its own, and c) morally neuter, the Obama administration contrived to come up with an argument that maximized every form of feebleness. Were we to have taken a more robust or discernible position, it was argued, our diplomatic staff in Libya might have been endangered. In other words, we decided to behave as if they were already hostages!"
I have plenty of disagreements with Hitchens on a long list of topics needless to say. And perhaps you long ago stopped reading him. But when he is on your side, you need to to just go RTWT and be d*mn glad he is. He's clearly one of the most talented writers in this world and this one brings it home stunningly. You will not be able to wipe the smile off your face -- perhaps for days...
