CDC admits droplets from a sneeze could spread Ebola | New York Post: "Ebola is a lot easier to catch than health officials have admitted — and can be contracted by contact with a doorknob contaminated by a sneeze from an infected person an hour or more before, experts told The Post Tuesday.Did I forget to mention that I told you so? And then some?
“If you are sniffling and sneezing, you produce microorganisms that can get on stuff in a room. If people touch them, they could be” infected, said Dr. Meryl Nass, of the Institute for Public Accuracy in Washington, DC.
Nass pointed to a poster the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention quietly released on its Web site saying the deadly virus can be spread through “droplets.”"
Oh, and there's the little additional detail that the
Just for an extra, bonus cherry on top.

Swedish police: 55 official no-go zones | THE SWEDEN REPORT: "The Swedish police has released a map of 55 areas where they publicly admit to having surrendered control to the criminal gangs. The report describes outright attacks on police officers trying to enter the areas, which is a step up from the previous problem with attacks on mailmen, fire trucks, ambulances and similar services; it used to be that fire trucks and ambulances had to wait for police escort to enter the areas, but now the police themselves need protection."... only to have much of their family tree vote for the new U.S. King (of amnesty).

Ed Driscoll » The Hacklash: "It’s a common enough phenomenon that I suggested it needs a name, and a couple of smart friends suggested I call it “hacklash.” I’ll take a stab at fleshing out the problem: Again and again we see the media and political establishment, which frequently collude, trying to preempt calls for honesty and accountability by enforcing some elite consensus that’s dismissive of the need to address institutional failures. There’s a dismissal of legitimate concerns, right up until the facts finally overwhelm the preferred narrative and prompt some degree of public outrage. When the public inevitably gets wise, it’s often before the media catch up, but usually too late to have avoided some secondary consequence or disaster. Each failure leaves the public more distrustful then they were before, and this necessitates even more aggressive attempts to ratchet up the elite consensus. Lather, rinse, repeat. This is basically the story of the Obama presidency, where nearly all of the staggering failures and crises–Ebola, ISIS, Obamacare, Benghazi, et al.–have played out in a similar fashion."Oof. Perfectly painful.

And I'm also dead certain that most of our country has gone stark raving mad for electing this lunatic.
As Nigeria heaves a collective sigh of relief after being declared free of Ebola, one woman is being widely praised for helping to ensure a more devastating outbreak was avoided.
Dr Stella Ameyo Adadevoh raised a red flag when attending to a Liberian patient at the First Consultant Hospital in Nigeria’s main city, Lagos, in July.
Patrick Sawyer had just flown into the country, already sick – he should never have been allowed on the plane.
Nigeria had never had an Ebola case before so it was an impressive piece of diagnostic work."

Belmont Club » Dual Control: "Obama, as per the NYT, is angry. He feels that his underlings have failed him. He therefore needs to put someone he can trust, someone who is absolutely loyal, in a position where he can watch over his officers and ensure they carry out his wishes. That’s why Klain doesn’t need any medical qualifications. His sole necessary qualification is blind loyalty. And BTW, if you haven't noticed, all of Obola's orders are political. And he knows more than the M.D's of course -- there's no job he can't do better than anyone else.
There’s nothing unusual about this. In systems with dual control, the political overrides the official. In the Red Army “the commissar also had the military authority to countermand the unit commander’s orders when required”. That authority was there for a reason: to ensure the primacy of the political. The zampolit‘s job was to make sure everyone knew he had the ear of the Boss; reported only to the Boss and would stop at nothing to protect the Boss. If that doesn’t describe the role of a political operative, then nothing does."

The Brimfield Police Department schools the CDC about Ebola: "By the very name of your organization, you folks control diseases. I have to ask a question, and risk sounding argumentative. Here it goes.
You all REALLY could not isolate and control ONE case of Ebola? It was ONE case on U.S. soil. One!! You are the Centers for Disease CONTROL!!! Now, local authorities are being deluged with calls and have to do your work. That is just fine. We are accustomed to it. It is typical federal behavior. Pass the problem downwards, refuse blame and take credit. I have seen it hundreds of times in my career."

Encouraging: Skunk Works Reveals Compact Fusion Reactor Details | Watts Up With That?: "Lockheed Martin aims to develop compact reactor prototype in five years, production unit in 10 Hidden away in the secret depths of the Skunk Works, a Lockheed Martin research team has been working quietly on a nuclear energy concept they believe has the potential to meet, if not eventually decrease, the world’s insatiable demand for power.
Dubbed the compact fusion reactor (CFR), the device is conceptually safer, cleaner and more powerful than much larger, current nuclear systems that rely on fission, the process of splitting atoms to release energy. Crucially, by being “compact,” Lockheed believes its scalable concept will also be small and practical enough for applications ranging from interplanetary spacecraft and commercial ships to city power stations. It may even revive the concept of large, nuclear-powered aircraft that virtually never require refueling—ideas of which were largely abandoned more than 50 years ago because of the dangers and complexities involved with nuclear fission reactors."

Articles: Is Ebola the Same Virus as the Black Death?: "Most people assume that the fourteenth-century Black Death that quickly ravaged the western world was a bacterial bubonic plague epidemic caused by flea bites and spread by rats. But the Black Death killed a high proportion of Scandinavians where it was too cold for fleas to survive. Biology of Plagues. Evidence from Historical Populations published by Cambridge University Press, analyzed 2,500 years of plagues and concluded that the Black Death was caused by a viral hemorrhagic fever pandemic similar to Ebola. If this is correct, the future medical and economic impacts from Ebola have been vastly underestimated."Just in case you were getting too comfortable.

CIDRAP: "We Believe There Is Scientific Evidence Ebola Has The Potential To Be Airborne" | Zero Hedge: "Who is CIDRAP? "The Center for Infectious Disease Research and Policy (CIDRAP; "SID-wrap") is a global leader in addressing public health preparedness and emerging infectious disease response. Founded in 2001, CIDRAP is part of the Academic Health Center at the University of Minnesota."And no, U Minn and U Chicago are not radical right wing loony bins. Sorry. They're about as far from it as you can find.
The full punchline from the CIDRAP report:
We believe there is scientific and epidemiologic evidence that Ebola virus has the potential to be transmitted via infectious aerosol particles both near and at a distance from infected patients, which means that healthcare workers should be wearing respirators, not facemasks."

Ace of Spades HQ: "What I see here is a strong suggestion not that the Dallas nurse breached protocol, but that the protocols she followed are flawed and inadequate. Sanjay Gupta dons the protective gear, then takes it off. It's the taking it off part that poses the greatest danger to the health care practitioner, as when she is taking it off, the protective clothing is possibly infected with ebola. Touching one's skin to a smear of ebloa-infected saliva on one's glove, for example, can result in infection. So the trick is to get the clothing off without touching your own skin with any part of the clothing, or the gloves. Gupta smears his gloves and his hospital gown with some chocolate sauce to represent possible ebola contact. The trick is then to get the gear off him without getting any chocolate sauce on his skin. Gupta takes off the clothing following what he says are CDC procedures, and winds up getting chocolate sauce on him."... and is already going quite badly for nurses in Dallas and Spain.
The *asshat Obola flunky that runs the CDC has now make a half-hearted apology for accusing the nurse of breaching protocol. How about apologizing for trying to get people killed like bugs while you're at it?
And then there's this little detail:
HEALTH COSTS: Ebola Preparation ‘Will bankrupt my hospital!’ Director Reacts to CDC Prep Call. “Treating one Ebola patient requires, full time, 20 medical staff. Mostly ICU (intensive care unit) people. So that would wipe out an ICU in an average-sized hospital.”How well do you suppose that will "scale" if the *sshats at the CDC continue to show the stellar competence they have so far?
Oh, and did I forget to mention that Obola already has an Ebola "czar". So why haven't we heard of her yet? Well that would be because she is just another corrupt Obola crony who tried to get work on the Ebola treatments cancelled in favor of funding some other Obola crony of course.
What a shock.

The Enterovirus D68 and President Obama’s Executive Order #13295… | The Last Refuge: "Before continuing let’s recap: The UAC’s were known to be coming. The UAC’s were known to carry a risk of introducing uncommon strains of respiratory virus. And the strain of virus is the same as the EV-D68 currently being dealt with.
Now, remember the “Bathtub Principle”, and place yourself within the administration knowing an influx of Illegal Children were to be expected with a potential virus risk of which would impact U.S. communities."
Remember the stories of sick kids at the illegal alien border holding facilities recently? If they didn't disperse those sick kids there would be a risk of a disease "hot zone" developing at the border.
Couldn't have that, could we? Even the supine media might start asking questions.
At best we are being held for ransom by an "elected" criminal conspiracy. At worst we are inconvenient "bugs" to be stomped out.
If we were lucky we could get this:
Instead, President Obola is busy telling people that "you can't get Ebola sitting next to someone on a bus" at the same time that the CDC is telling people that exhibit Ebola symptoms to "avoid public transportation".
I suspect the only problem here from Obola's perspective is that he wasn't able to quash that advice from the CDC.

Moonbattery » Obama Regime Scrapped Quarantine Regulations: "This 2010 story is an interesting blast from the past:
The Obama administration has quietly scrapped plans to enact sweeping new federal quarantine regulations that the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention touted four years ago as critical to protecting Americans from dangerous diseases spread by travelers.
The regulations, proposed in 2005 during the Bush administration amid fears of avian flu, would have given the federal government additional powers to detain sick airline passengers and those exposed to certain diseases. They also would have expanded requirements for airlines to report ill passengers to the CDC and mandated that airlines collect and maintain contact information for fliers in case they later needed to be traced as part of an investigation into an outbreak. …"
