The Tense Exchange Between Rep. Trey Gowdy and the Former IRS Head You’ve Been Waiting for…and It Doesn’t Disappoint | Video | TheBlaze.com: "“If there’s inappropriate conduct being done on your watch in the IRS,” Rep. Gowdy said, “then that inappropriate conduct can last as long as the inspector general’s investigation lasts.”Welcome to the Idiocracy.
The congressman’s remarks were in response to former IRS Commissioner Doug Shulman saying he didn’t stop the agency’s political targeting of conservative groups because the IG was looking into it.
“Is that what you’re telling me?” Gowdy continued. “You’re not going to step in and stop it? If there’s someone wielding a knife in the parking lot, are you going to call the inspector general? Are you going to wait until his or her investigation is over until stop it?”
There was a long pause after that question."

I’m serious. My small pocket knife (3″) would be illegal because the blade locks.
You won’t believe this, from the UK government website:
“It is illegal to:
-sell a knife of any kind (including cutlery and kitchen knives) to anyone under 18
-carry a knife in public without good reason – unless it’s a knife with a folding blade 3 inches long (7.62 cm) or less, eg a Swiss Army knife
-carry, buy or sell any type of banned knife (the list of banned knives is below)
-use any knife in a threatening way (even a legal knife, such as a Swiss Army knife)
“Lock knives (knives with blades that can be locked when unfolded) are not folding knives, and are illegal to carry in public."
By the way, liberal politicians in the US called for knife control while Obama was signing his unconstitutional executive orders this year.”
All of Obama's Scandals Are Ultimately About Information Control | National Review Online:Du'O. The rest is Q.E.D.

Let us not forget the earliest Obama scandals involved controlling the IG offices.
The IRS Scandal is Officially Dead | Shenandoah: "The course of action taken by the former head of the non-profit division of the IRS, Lois Lerner, is no shock to this blogger as once a criminal investigation is announced, all cooperation ceases. All witnesses and potential whistle blowers will obtain counsel and please the 5th Amendment also. Emails, memos, and any printed material will not become evidence in the possession of a Republican dominated committee but instead will be sealed by the Attorney General so as not to “taint” any case that may develop against those guilty of any potential crimes. The actions initiated by Eric Holder with the announcement last Friday night of a criminal investigation has basically initiated a course of action identical to what occurred with the Fast and Furious scandal. All tornado, all the time. Lois Lerner who? The average delton won't have a clue about anything except O Duce's pleas to help the poor OK red state victims. I know, I know. Why would he go out of his way to help a red state?
The problem and clash between branches will now depend on second and third level Senators and Congressmen initiating action to pressure the leadership into forming a select committee to investigate at a minimum the IRS scandal if possible all of the abuses of power engaged in by the Obama administration. Based on the track record of the Republican leadership (or lack thereof) and the inability of the media to grasp the depths of the crisis should Obama be allowed to escape prosecution, Americans should begin preparations to live in a totally lawless society controlled with a police state based domestic military and continuous variations of regulation to create a nation of citizen criminals guilty of only living within our borders and out of favor with the powers that be."
Instapundit » Blog Archive » THE OBAMA ADMINISTRATION FINALLY FINDS A CONSTITUTIONAL AMENDMENT IT CAN GET BEHIND: Top IRS offici…: "THE OBAMA ADMINISTRATION FINALLY FINDS A CONSTITUTIONAL AMENDMENT IT CAN GET BEHIND: Top IRS official will invoke 5th Amendment. “A top IRS official in the division that reviews nonprofit groups will invoke the 5th Amendment and refuse to answer questions before a House committee investigating the agency’s improper screening of conservative nonprofit groups. Lois Lerner, the head of the exempt organizations division of the IRS, won’t answer questions about what she knew about the improper screening — or why she didn’t disclose it to Congress, according to a letter from her defense lawyer, William W. Taylor III. Lerner was scheduled to appear before the House Oversight Committee on Wednesday.” She’s lawyered-up, and not just with any lawyer, either. You know, this has moved far beyond parody and I seriously doubt that even this will wake up the
UPDATE: “Look forward to reading tomorrow’s pieces explaining how GOP is overplaying hand by pointing out that Lerner is pleading 5th.” No scandal here — she just doesn’t want to talk because telling the truth might incriminate her!

Bookworm Room » Is the IRS scandal the worst political scandal in American history? I say “yes.”: "There’s been a lot of debate swirling amongst the pundits lately. Is the Watergate cover-up worse than the Benghazi cover-up or vice versa? Is the only scandal that matters the Justice Department’s decision to tap Associated Press phones, because that’s the only one that the media will care about? What did Obama know and when did he know it?Well, how else are you going to put your jack-boots on the neck of America without attacking them? Saul would approve O course...
Ignore all that. The absolute worst scandal that’s emerged lately, and the worst administration scandal in American history is the IRS scandal. Why? Because you, the People, became the targets of a comprehensive federal government effort to stifle dissent, one made using the government’s overwhelming and disproportionate policing and taxing powers.
All of the other scandals, going back to Andrew Johnson’s post-Civil War scandals, Warren G. Harding’s 1920s Teapot Dome scandal, Nixon’s Watergate, Reagan’s Iran-Contra, and Clinton’s Oval Office sexcapades have actually been narrowly focused acts of cronyism, garden-variety political chicanery, or personal failings. It’s been insider stuff.
The IRS scandal, by contrast, is a direct attack on the American people."
Obama denies role in government | Power Line: "President Obama used his weekly radio address on Saturday to reassure the American people that he has “played no role whatsoever” in the U.S. government over the past four years.
“Right now, many of you are angry at the government, and no one is angrier than I am,” he said. “Quite frankly, I am glad that I have had no involvement in such an organization.”"
The Volokh Conspiracy » Colorado Sheriffs file Second Amendment lawsuit against anti-gun bills: Colorado’s recently passed HB 1229, its so-called universal background check law, is a low misdemeanor on the first violation, but then comes the real kicker. A first conviction also carries with it a prohibition on all firearm possession for 2 years. Thus, while you will only be assessed a fine on a first conviction, the court can and will also order that all of your guns be immediately confiscated. Imagine a law that established a rigid speech code that upon violation subjected one to a gag order prohibiting them from making any public statements such as writing a letter to the editor, commenting on a blog, or writing a blog post for 2 years after a first conviction for saying something that liberals choose to call hate speech. That would be a law making it easy for liberals to shut down their critics, and HB 1229 is a law meant to make it easy for them to confiscate your guns.Dr. Ferris you ask? That would be explained in the previous comment.
Governor Hickenlooper responded to criticism when he signed this into law by saying he was not trying to take away anyone’s right of self defense and he wasn’t trying to take anyone's guns away. It there were even a kernel of truth in that statement he would have vetoed HB 1229.
They made is very easy to violate this law. Handing your gun to your buddy at a shooting range to let him try it is a violation by both of you unless you first go to a gun store and pay for two background checks. While there is a shooting range exception in the law, the very next sentence has a definition of "shooting range" that no shooting range in Colorado meets.
This law was passed by liberal Democrats with malice aforethought.
Oddly, the IRS didn’t seem interested in large 501s « Hot Air: "Why might that be? Groups like American Crossroads and Priorities USA can afford to defend themselves, even if we entertain for a moment the fantasy that this IRS would go after a group of former Obama advisers. Bullies don’t pick on those who can effectively defend themselves. Also, these groups get a lot of attention, and starting a war with Karl Rove would have exposed this effort a lot more quickly than anyone in the IRS or the Obama administration might have wanted.RTWT. And do you think that Holder would ever have the FBI investigate this? Good luck with that.
Had these enforcement efforts actually been legitimate, the IRS would have wanted that kind of attention. The fact that they actively avoided accruing it speaks volumes about its perceived legitimacy even among its perpetrators.
This tells us, then, that the IRS wanted to target conservative groups who couldn’t afford to defend themselves, and who could be easily intimidated out of organizing for their agendas. That’s not a strategy for reform or enforcement, but simply a brute-force bullying effort in order to sideline grassroots opposition to the current administration. Contra the AP, that’s not irony at all, but corruption and abuse."
Highlights of Today’s IRS Hearing | Power Line: "Former acting IRS Commissioner Steve Miller testified before the House Ways and Means Committee today; Paul live-blogged his appearance. My friend Jeff Davis compiled this video of highlights of today’s proceedings. As usual, the highlights consist more of the Congressmen’s questions than Miller’s answers, but the video is nevertheless revealing. Miller comes across just as Paul described him:"
Trust Me! Or Else… | Power Line: "It appears that, having made the astonishing mistake of re-electing Barack Obama, the American people will learn through bitter experience why the Founders feared demagogues and tried to establish a system of limited government."
Benghazi Emails Directly Contradict White House Claims | The Weekly Standard: "The half dozen references to terrorists – both in Benghazi and more generally – all but disappeared. Gone were references to al Qaeda, Ansar al Sharia, jihadists, Islamic extremists, etc. The only remaining mention was a note that “extremists” had participated in the attack.
As striking as what appears in the email traffic is what does not. There is no mention of the YouTube video that would become a central part of the administration’s explanation of the attacks to the American people until a brief mention in the subject line of emails coming out of an important meeting where further revisions were made."
United States of Surreality, 2 | protein wisdom: "Moreover, no really really high-ranking IRS officials knew any of this, despite reports to the contrary that are backed by paper trails, and even if they did, they were powerless to stop the determination specialists, who were not adequately trained to be specialists, just as immediate management was unable both to inform these determination specialists of their inappropriate methods nor curtail them, try as they might — not being determination specialists themselves, and so who are they to presume?"
Would You Believe The Administration Got Phone Records of The House Of Representatives? « The Greenroom: "DN: So when they went after the AP reporters, right? Went after all of their phone records, they went after the phone records, including right up here in the House Gallery, right up from where I’m sitting right now. So you have a real separation of powers issue that did this really rise to the level that you would have to get phone records that would, that would most likely include members of Congress, because as you know…Well, I know they'll find some way to hide this back under the carpet. But I've got to believe it will be at least somewhat entertaining to watch. Well, if you're not a Delton that is...
DN: …members of Congress talk to the press all the time.
HH: I did not know that, and that is a stunner.
DN: Now that is a separation of powers issue here, Hugh."
To Trib Editor Gerould Kern: Tear down this wall… «: "When asked about the sealed Blagojevich tapes and transcripts that the Feds shared with the two reporters for their book, Coen replied that the leaked material was “the Tribune's business.” He refused to elaborate.I'm guessing O Duce might have to advance directly to prison if it was published...
In other words, talk to my boss. So we’ve talked to Coen’s boss.
Tribune Editor Gerould Kern was asked why the Trib has failed to share the tapes and transcripts with its readers.
Kern will not respond.
We call upon the Chicago Tribune to inform its readers and publish the transcripts. After all, they represent news, and the paper is supposed to be in the news business."
The Strata-Sphere » Obama/Holder Bit By The Bush-FISA Fiasco: "Former Attorney General Alberto Gonzales said Wednesday that the Bush administration once considered issuing the type of subpoena that the Justice Department issued against the Associated Press, but ultimately opted against it.This is all truly ironic. Holder and Obama are getting roasted for doing what Bush never did, but the liberal left claimed Bush did all the time."
“There was at least one occasion in which we were engaged in a very serious leak investigation and we had to make some very difficult choices about whether or not to move forward, going after the reporters in order to try to figure out where the source of the leak is,” he said on MSNBC’s “Morning Joe. “And sometimes, the department finds itself in a situation where they have exhausted all means and they have to make a very hard determination as to whether or not they want to subpoena the reporter, if they want to subpoena the reporter’s notes. So yes, I’ve had that situation. In the instance that I have in mind, we ultimately decided not to move forward.”
BREAKING: Obama White House Just Caught In HUGE Lie/Contradiction – See Proof Here. - The Ulsterman Report: "So please now consider this reader – the Attorney General of the United States of America publicly informs the media that there was such a significant threat to American security that it required the Department of Justice to revoke the First Amendment rights of a significant media source.Wow.
And yet, despite that significant threat to American security, the White House then indicates Barack Obama HAD NO KNOWLEDGE OF THAT THREAT or the attempt to remedy that threat. That he in fact just learned of his own Department of Justice’s potentially illegal actions against the Associated Press.
