I'm at a loss what to add to this. But we're the idiots, you know.

Actually, there is one thing I can think to add. One of the zinger lines from Orwell's "Pacifism And The War": "The idea that you can somehow remain aloof from and superior to the struggle, while living on food which British sailors have to risk their lives to bring you, is a bourgeois illusion bred of money and security." That last part pretty much describes today's progressives.
